Stichting CITRO-Bonaire is a maritime rescue organization consisting of volunteers, with the aim of being available day and night to help people in distress at sea and along the coast of Bonaire.

Job Description The secretary of Stichting CITRO Bonaire is responsible for the daily affairs within the foundation’s board. He/she maintains frequent contact with the chairman, treasurer, and director regarding the implementation of policy matters and oversees the task execution of all board members. Furthermore, the secretary ensures an orderly archive, thereby meeting the administrative obligation.

Responsibilities

  • In addition to formal secretarial tasks, the secretary plays an important role in the internal and external communication of the board, often via e-mail.
  • Prepare agendas for board meetings and ensure the distribution of the agenda, attachments, and documentation via e-mail.
  • Take minutes during meetings and prepare the report afterwards.
  • Support the chairman with the foundation’s policy and other overarching tasks.
  • Be available at reasonable times via e-mail and phone to answer questions, handle matters, or undertake follow-up actions.
  • Handle correspondence and documentation of papers.
  • Support the treasurer with financial matters.
  • Support the director where necessary with operational matters.
  • Communicate important information to the board, director, and volunteers.

  • You are a true networker. You dare to ask questions and take initiative.
  • You can set priorities, consult, solve problems, motivate, and stimulate.
  • You are willing to fulfill the position for at least one term of a year or longer.
  • You are proficient in Dutch, English, and Papiamento, both spoken and written.
  • You are computer literate.

Availability

  • Working days: flexible
  • Hours per month: minimum 4 hours
